Working 9 to 5

I notice that Linked In is slowly becoming the underground grievance headquarters for the abused employee clique. While, I am thankful they have a place to collectively digress, I must say this can be dangerous. If said boss becomes privy to the collective he can become irritated and begin to seek out ways to punish his victim. 

My hope is that these employees eventually become the managers, owners, and founders they were deprived of having. Likewise that upper management get help urgently, it’s no fun feeling attacked and off balanced, especially at the place you are required to excel and advance. I wrote 9 to 5 for the collective aforementioned.

No, he is really out to lunch…

There was a time when the term “out to lunch” consisted of engaging in a meal halfway through the work day. Today, in the 21stcentury the word had transformed and taken on the meaning of being crazy or out of touch emotionally. The idiom “out to lunch” is extremely covert and difficult to dissect to an outside party. It is believed the term was developed and frequently used within the workplace. The workday traditionally consisting of eight hours termed “The 9-5” compliments of Dolly Parton 1980 hit 9 -5.

Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Yawn and stretch and try to come to alive
Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumpin’
Out on the street the traffic starts jumpin’
With folks like me on the job from 9 to 5

This tribute to the work force mindset had people who didn’t even like country music tuned it. It was such a hit that it was followed by a movie. Nine to Five was a tribute to anyone who was over worked, under paid, and pushed to the edge by a cruel boss. As a result of team work the employees take out revenge against the cruel boss, and even get an opportunity to make changes within the office environment.

When employees were having a tough day at the office and the boss was “out to lunch” the employees would take this opportunity to discuss the days havoc. It became a casual term to ask if the boss was “out to lunch” to determine if the coast was clear to talk freely keep a muzzle on. Employees never adjusted to the system of working within these confining conditions. The traditional office work standard was very formal and uptight when the boss was around. Yet, when he was “out to lunch” the atmosphere was much lighter, and people felt far more relaxed. The idiom began to travel within the workplace and ultimately the negativity associated with its conception. Long before the “out to lunch” term was depicted as a multilayered comment/question the negative emotions incurred when a boss is in the office had long developed. It preceded its negative definition and as such it was always an under the table commentary that could not be decoded easily.

The slogan slowly infiltrated the entire western world and helped employees to survive in competitive high-pressure work environments. It was a water cooler question that typically followed a freeing of the environment. The idiom was embraced as another approach to group therapeutic council and many looked forward to the “out to lunch” periods to discuss what the boss had or hadn’t agreed to. The bosses tended to stick together to avoid the “favorites” accusations and this created instant separation and caste systems. The term took on a negative connotation when the term began to overlap into if employees could converse safely about pressing issues and concerns within the office. While the CEO’s were eating at five-star meals and writing them off as lunch dates the employees were eating greasy burgers and fries at their desks. Naturally, this created a divided work nuance and the employees were rarely in agreement with change and additional responsibility. These were the days when people stayed on jobs for years and retired at the same place after nearly giving their lives over to these companies. Eight hours began to feel like a lifetime and people changed this dichotomy via returning to school, changing careers, or enterprising on virtual work opportunities.

Slowly, the term “out to lunch” has begun to dissipate as the workforce greatly changed. Today’s employees are contracted employees, temporary workers, and are comfortable with change and exploring different opportunities in different fields and locations. Fortunately, flex time options, forsaking lunch, or coffee breaks allow staff to leave work early. Offices have music casually playing in the background, and it’s not unfamiliar to see family pictures and artwork atop desks. The office is no longer stuffy and casual Fridays are frequently allowed. The sharing of holiday meals, office functions, and gift exchanges have greatly benefitted the work environment and overall moral. Learning to unwind together has created a far less tense work environment. Thereby, creating a far more casual work experience for the entire office, bosses included!

HPV is so common that nearly all sexually active men and women get the virus at some point in their lives. Although the overall racial disparity in cancer death rates is decreasing, in 2012, the death rate for all cancers combined was 24% higher in black men and 14% higher in black women than in white men and women, respectively. Even with an already high rate of occurrence, African-American women are two to three times more likely to have recurring fibroids or suffer from complications from them. Southern states bear the greatest burden of HIV, accounting for 50% of new infections in 2014.

Northern Abyssinian Queen, Duchess Lark – HERbalanced Life – Ityopia tabetsih edewiha have Igziabiher –

BERERE is a combination of peppers, garlic, onion and other spices that are dried and ground into powdered form. Berbere has a full-bodied, spicy taste and is very versatile, complimenting both meat and vegetables.

MITMITA is another combination spice. It is made from even hotter peppers than is berbere and contains onions, garlic, cumin, ginger and other condiments that are dried and ground up. Mitmita has a full-bodied taste. It is much hotter than berbere.

INJERA is a flat, spongy bread that resembles a crepe or pancake. Injera is made from teff, an Ethiopian staple grain, or from wheat and barley.

NEIR KIBE (purified butter) is butter cooked with garlic, ginger, cardamon, coriander and other exotic Ethiopian spices, and strained through cheesecloth.

MESOB is a tabletop on which food is traditionally serviced. The typical mesob is woven from straw dyed in bright colors and has a lid that is kept on until it is time to eat.

Shuro  Highly seasoned chick peas in a berbere sauce.

Tikel Gomen  Cabbage & potatoes cooked in vegetable oil, onions, fresh

garlic & a blend of spices.

Kosta  Spinach & potatoes slowly cooked in a blend of mild spices.

Zucchini  Green squash, carrots & onions sautéed in a blend of exotic herbs.

I am studying herbalism under Sir Patrick Delves and I always had an insatiable Queenly proclivity toward teas and herbs. After a failed three year marriage to an unbeliever and narcissist I blew up in weight and my gift of health was placed on pause. An unbalanced life can have that effect in addition to health ailments if not cautious and prayerful during the season. I was blessed to escape with all of my health in tack minus the weight, disappointment, and a broken heart. In this picture I was in Montego Bay with my husband within days of a horrific early miscarriage suffered in our Kingston Jamaica home. I felt the vacation would be refreshing, yet another bandaid on a utterly broken home. The weight was only beginning to climb here. Yet, I have at least gotten it back to this point, but the journey has just began…

I would continually attempt to leave my deported love child of a husband, however we would always end up reconnecting after up to a solid year of separation. This became a cycle and we both were living in a state of utter regret. I fought for the marriage until it was made clear to me that it was now time for me to fight for me.

Would you like to journey back down with me, I have already begun. I want any woman who is likewise battling her heart, weight, or health to follow me asap.
